| Dave (Dave) | Thursday, October 23, 2003 - 09:07 pm Greetings: PLEASE COME TO A RALLY AND PRESS CONFERENCE ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29TH, 2003 AT NEW YORK CITY HALL TO SAVE CITY MITCHELL-LAMA HOUSING. RALLY AT NOON AT STEPS OF CITY HALL. CITY COUNCIL HEARING AT 1:00 P.M. ON INTRO. 523-THE MITCHELL-LAMA CONVERSION PROTECTION BILL. Support The Campaign to Preserve Afffordable Housing-Save Our Homes-Save Our Communities! Build Unity in New York City! If we do not preserve Mitchell-lama housing--thousands of tenants will be displaced from their homes very soon-as recently happend at Henry Street in Brooklyn!! We must save the remaining affordable and integrated housing that is left in New York City. Independence Plaza North (IPN) Tenants Association, has spear headed this campaign, as our landlord has informed us he plans to remove our 3 building community of 1,400 tenants from the Micthell-lama program and go free market by June 2004. IPN is the only affordable and racially and economically diverse housing development left in the rich white enclave of Tribeca. As New York rebuilds after 9/11, they must consider housing affordability, diversity and neighborhood stability. Intro. 523, will help preserve City supervised Mitchell-lamas across the city and set a precedent for future actions to preserve state supervised Micthell-lamas and other forms of affordable housing in New York City.
