As a LL requesting tenancy of sect.8 families,for the first time,I'm finding the whole process frustating.The guidlines used would indicate that Ranch-style homes are the only suitable housing they're willing to supplement.My railroad apt.has new appliances,new windows,good heat and hot water.Entrances and exits clean and clear.Rooms that I grew up in considered bedrooms and livingrooms are now just areas.Section8 seemed a viable way to secure rental income and provide decent housing for some needy family(avaerage 38new calls a week)but inspectors are eliminating rooms as it seems to keep the LL from recieving the true value for the apartments.I say let's find families safe,secure housing and stop cutting out corners and rooms to save the HA a buck or two.In the long run,only the families lose. |
