| Rent Wars | Wednesday, September 19, 2001 - 04:27 pm From City Limits: LEGAL SERVICES OF NEW YORK: The central office of Legal Services for New York City was open as of Monday, although a picture ID is required to enter the area below Canal St. Our phones are mostly working. We are attempting to gather what information we can. Some updates that might be helpful: 1. Evictions citywide have been suspended until further notice. Service of notices of evictions are suspended until September 20. New information is that notices of eviction in the "outer boroughs" served prior to September 11 will be re-served. Notices of eviction are not yet being served again in Manhattan. 2. HPD's main office at 100 Gold St. has reopened yesterday. However, the Central Complaint number is not operative. Heat/hot water and other complaints should go through HPD's borough offices: Bronx 718-579-6785 Brooklyn 718-827-1921 Queens 718-520-3420 or 3424 Staten Island 718-816-2340 Manhattan 212-234-2541 |
