We must protect those who have made this district so attractive to new residents. As such, we must prevent seniors from being priced out of their homes and we need to provide them with the services they need to remain self-sufficient in those homes. Another often-overlooked population is people with mental illness. Any comprehensive housing plan must include an increase in so-called "NY/NY" housing, which gives those with mental illness the services they need to stay off the streets. |
